Dé Solid Glossy Black Plate

Dé is a tableware collection born from the collaboration between Belgian fashion designer Ann Demeulemeester and Belgian ceramics brand Serax. It translates Demeulemeester's signature chiaroscuro aesthetic into porcelain, using hand-painted dégradé techniques and deep black glazes to create shadow effects on the table.

Serax generally produces its porcelain tableware to be dishwasher safe, though hand-washing is recommended for pieces with hand-applied finishes to preserve the glaze's integrity over time. Consult the specific care instructions included with your piece.

The solid glossy black plate presents a uniform, unbroken glaze across the entire surface, while the dégradé versions feature hand-painted gradients along the edges that create a visible interplay of tones. The solid plate functions as a compositional anchor when mixed with the more painterly dégradé pieces.

Mixing is central to the collection's design intent. Ann Demeulemeester conceived the Dé range so that different sizes, shadow gradients, and finishes could be arranged together, allowing the play of light across the surfaces to shift depending on the combination chosen.
