Dé Off-White and Black Plate

Dé is the meeting point of fashion and the table. Ann Demeulemeester, whose design language has long been defined by the tension between light and shadow, brings that same chiaroscuro sensibility to porcelain. Each plate is hand-painted in multiple layers, building a dégradé gradient along the rim that shifts from bare white to deep, absorbing black.

Because the painting is done entirely by hand, no two plates are identical. The variation is the point. Six gradations of black are offered, ranging from the most delicate trace to an almost fully coated field. A selection in red extends the palette further, introducing warmth against the off-white ground.

The collection rewards arrangement. Plates placed beside or atop one another create new plays of tone and edge, so the table becomes a considered composition rather than a setting.
