Bac Chair
Made by Cappellini
Designed by Jasper Morrison
Jasper Morrison conceived the Bac Chair as a direct extension of his Bac table, developing a cohesive family of objects rooted in proportion and restraint. The relationship between the two pieces is not incidental - the chair follows the table's logic of quiet precision, reinforcing a visual language that holds without effort.
The frame is solid ash wood, available in four aniline stained finishes: bleached, oak-stained, black-stained, and Shanghai blue. Each finish responds differently to light, shifting the chair's presence from austere to warm depending on the surrounding environment. The seat shares the same finish as the frame, sustaining the object's coherence throughout.
An upholstered option allows the front face of the ash seat to be covered in leather or fabric, introducing texture without disrupting the overall silhouette. It is a considered detail, one that speaks to Morrison's broader sensibility: adding only what the form can absorb.
