A chalet in the Swiss Alps is one of the more typecast briefs in residential design, the kind of project where it is easy to fall back on antlers, plaid, and a fireplace already arguing too loudly. Massimo Castagna's interior at Crans-Montana refuses the cliche from the first decision. The palette stays in the neutrals, gray and cream and brown working as the project's only color story, and the result reads as alpine in temperature rather than in costume.
Castagna developed the residence alongside Interni's Creative Team, which handled the full program: furniture procurement, fabric specification, finish coordination. The brand vocabulary is narrow on purpose. Henge and Gallotti and Radice supply the principal pieces, two houses whose work tends toward sculptural restraint and material weight. A small group of Ceccotti armchairs softens the living room without breaking its discipline. The sleeping quarters are built around Meridiani beds, the brand whose silhouettes have done quiet work in serious Italian interiors for the better part of two decades.
