Paolo Piva

Architect Paolo Piva was born in Adria, Italy in 1950. He studied architecture at the I.U.A.V. (University Institute of Architecture in Venice) from 1968 to 1973 with Prof. Carlo Scarpa and Prof. Carlo Aymonino and graduated with a thesis on “Vienna 1919-1934” under the supervision of Professor Manfredo Taturi.

During his post-graduate studies at the “Corso superiore di Restauro” in Rome, he began to make a name for himself in the fields of architecture and industrial design in Italy, Austria and other countries. In 1988, he accepted the invitation to take charge of the master class in industrial design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna as associate professor and became full professor in 1990.

He designed in 1988 the B&B Italian factory at Misinto, from 1989 to 1998 the factories of Poliform at Arosio, Inverigo, Lurago, and in 1992/93 the factory of Wittmann in Austria. He designed the new office buildings for Alvigini in 1989, Floor-Gres in 1994 and 1997.

In 1995 he won the competition for the Science Technology Park in Vienna together with Arch. Holzbauer and Arch. Sordina and had personal exhibitions at the Architectural Gallery of Munich and the Gallery Ulysses at Vienna. In 1996 he participated at the VI Mostra internazionale di Architettura della Biennale di Buenos Aires. In 1991 the publishing house Residenz Verlag Salzburg published the monography “Paolo Piva Design & Architektur.”
