The Visitor Sculpture (Small)
Made by Gardeco
Designed by Guido Deleu
Belgian artist Guido Deleu conceived The Visitor as a quiet presence, a ceramic figure that carries the weight of human form without over-explaining it. Each piece is handcrafted at Cores da Terra, the studio of Selma Calheira in Brazil, where natural clay and color pigments are the only materials at work. No industrial finishes, no synthetic color.
Cores da Terra has become widely recognized for its role in developing local artisans and contributing directly to the cultural and economic life of one of Brazil's most underserved regions. Works from this studio are held in museums and galleries internationally.
Because Deleu works exclusively with natural pigments, each Visitor carries slight tonal variation. No two are identical. Displayed alone, the small sculpture holds its own. Grouped in multiples, the figures enter into a quiet conversation with one another and with the space around them.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Guido Deleu?
Guido Deleu is a Belgian artist whose practice spans sculpture, ceramics, and object design. He is known for work that distills human form to its essential gesture, often collaborating with artisan studios that share his commitment to natural materials and craft process.
Where are The Visitor sculptures made?
Each Visitor is handcrafted at Cores da Terra, the studio founded by Selma Calheira in Brazil. The studio is internationally recognized both for the quality of its ceramic work and for its ongoing role in training local artisans and supporting economic development in the region.
What materials are used in The Visitor Sculpture?
The figures are made from natural clay and finished with natural color pigments only. No synthetic dyes or industrial coatings are used, which means slight tonal variations occur between pieces and are an inherent quality of the work.
Can The Visitor Sculpture be displayed outdoors?
The Visitor is a ceramic work finished with natural pigments and is best suited for interior display. Exposure to moisture and direct sunlight could affect the surface over time.
Does the small scale work as part of a larger grouping?
Yes. The small Visitor holds presence on its own, but Deleu's series was conceived with grouping in mind. Arranging multiple figures together creates a compositional rhythm and amplifies the sense of quiet human dialogue the artist intended.
