Baby alpaca refers specifically to fleece harvested during the animal's first shearing, typically yielding fibers finer than 22 microns. This produces a notably softer, smoother hand than fleece from older animals, with less of the prickling sensation associated with wool.

Raf Simons has maintained a long-standing creative partnership with Kvadrat, the Danish textile company, developing exclusive fabric collections that bridge fashion and interior design. The collaboration reflects his sustained interest in materiality and color as primary design languages, applied here to an existing archival Kvadrat form.

Baby alpaca is best handled with a gentle hand wash in cool water or a specialist dry clean. Avoid wringing or machine agitation, as the closely woven structure can distort under mechanical stress. Flat drying preserves the drape and fringe integrity.

The Sigmar throw was originally designed by Fanny Aronsen for Kvadrat. Raf Simons later reinterpreted the colorway, introducing his signature palette while preserving Aronsen's original construction and proportions.

The Sigmar 2 is genuinely functional. Its weight and drape make it well suited for wearing as a wrap, and its fiber quality means it improves subtly with use. Many architects and designers also specify it as a draped textile accent within a composed interior.
