Designed in 1968, the Sferico series draws from pure geometrical forms, each silhouette considered not for a single prescribed use but for the full range of human thirst.
Six glasses, six forms, one philosophy. Water, wine, whisky, champagne, juice, long drinks, even ice cream - Colombo refused to design objects that dictated behavior. The Sferico pieces invite improvisation.
That democratic sensibility defined Colombo's brief but prolific career. He died in 1971 at thirty-six, leaving behind furniture, lighting, and objects that remain startlingly current. Karakter, the Copenhagen design gallery dedicated to reviving overlooked modern classics, brought the Sferico series back into production with fidelity to the original drawings.
