Designed in 1956, the PK1 is among Poul Kjaerholm's earliest mature statements: a chair that holds industrial precision and organic material in careful equilibrium. The frame is precision-welded steel, spare and structural. The seat and back are hand-woven paper cord, a material rooted in Scandinavian craft tradition, warm to the touch and quietly textural.

Kjaerholm trained as a cabinetmaker before turning to steel, and that dual sensibility defines the PK1. The form is reduced to what is necessary, yet nothing about it feels austere. Proportion does the emotional work.

Now produced by Carl Hansen & Søn with fidelity to the original drawings, the chair is offered in two frame finishes with the seat and back in natural paper cord.
