Daybed
Made by Cappellini
Designed by Jasper Morrison
Jasper Morrison's Daybed for Cappellini is one of those rare objects that holds its position across decades. Rooted in an early Morrison project for the Milan-based house, the design returns here in a form that absorbs new upholstery technology without conceding anything to the original's quiet confidence.
The structure is built from solid fir wood, poplar plywood, and beech plywood, joined with metal fixing plates and framed in die-cast aluminium. Multi-density polyurethane foam and polyester fibre give the seating its calibrated softness. The result carries Morrison's characteristic restraint: nothing added, nothing missing.
Available as a sofa or in a méridienne version, the Daybed is offered in a curated selection of leathers and fabrics. The silhouette reads the same in both configurations, a long, low, deliberate presence that asks very little of a room and gives it a great deal back.
