Dalia

Marcel Wanders drew from the dahlia flower to give this armchair its defining gesture: a shell that opens like petals, wrapping the sitter in a curve that is at once protective and expressive. The form reads as sculpture before it reads as furniture.

The shell is constructed from fibreglass and resin, shaped to a silhouette that resists any single orthogonal view. Polyurethane foam padding on both the seat and backrest tempers the structural rigidity of the shell without compromising its profile. The result sits on a metal base finished in powder-varnished natural aluminium or matt black, available with a standard swivel or a return mechanism.
