Balnea
Made by Salvatori
Designed by Elisa Ossino
Balnea is Elisa Ossino's meditation on stone as architectural volume. Working with Salvatori's white Carrara marble, she draws out a language of restrained geometry, where the solidity of monolithic bathtubs and washbasins is held in quiet tension with the softness of woven linen curtains.
The collection reads as a complete environment rather than a catalogue of objects. Washbasins, shower trays, storage units, hangers, and freestanding bathtubs each carry the same formal coherence, a dialogue between two-dimensional incision and three-dimensional mass. Voids are as deliberate as form. Surfaces carry the natural variation of Carrara marble, each piece shaped by the particularities of the stone itself.
Ossino's process is rooted in sculptural research. She approaches marble not as a surface material but as a medium with its own structural and expressive logic, allowing the weight of the stone to register as presence rather than ornament.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who designed the Balnea collection for Salvatori?
Balnea was designed by Elisa Ossino, a Milan-based architect and designer known for her research into material identity and sculptural form. Her collaboration with Salvatori extends her sustained investigation of white Carrara marble as a primary medium.
What stone is used in the Balnea bathroom collection?
The collection is built entirely from white Carrara marble, one of the most historically significant stones in Italian architecture and sculpture. Salvatori sources and works this material with precision, preserving the natural veining and variation that give each piece its individual character.
What pieces are included in the Balnea system?
Balnea encompasses washbasins, freestanding and built-in bathtubs, shower trays, storage units, and hanging accessories. The system is conceived as a complete bathroom environment, with each element sharing a consistent formal language so the space reads as a unified whole.
How does Balnea balance the weight of marble with a sense of lightness?
Ossino introduces woven linen curtains as a counterpoint to the monolithic stone forms. The textile elements absorb light differently than polished or honed marble, creating a contrast in texture and visual weight that keeps the environment from feeling heavy despite the scale of the stone volumes.
Is the Balnea collection suitable for residential and architectural projects?
Yes. The architectural coherence and material consistency of Balnea make it well suited to both high-end residential interiors and larger architectural commissions. Its system-based structure allows architects and designers to configure the collection to the specific proportions and program of a given space.
