Few residential briefs benefit from the architecture before the keys are handed over. This loft, set within a Bergamo building by Antonio Citterio, Patricia Viel and Partners, is one of them. The shell arrives with discipline already baked in, which freed the interior project to pursue a thesis the owners cared about more than ornament: a home should open, not close. Daylight, fresh air, and the planted terrace beyond the glazing are written into the plan rather than admitted as guests.

In the living area, a Groundpiece sofa by Flexform sets the tone, low and architectural, joined by the brand's Guscioalto armchair and a Bangkok ottoman in woven leather. The hand of Antonio Citterio runs through these selections in a quiet way, since the Groundpiece is his design as well. The kitchen, by Arclinea, is the room where the loft's material vocabulary becomes most legible. A Convivium island, fabricated entirely in steel, faces a wall of Italia columns finished in dark oak. The two materials, kept in clean opposition, do more to define the room than any decorative move could.

Sleeping quarters lean on Flexform once more. The Cestone bed is paired with a Feel Good swivel armchair and a pair of Dida side tables. To one side, the room opens to a Rimadesio walk-in dressing area and a full bath; to the other, the terrace, furnished by Roda and Paola Lenti for use through the warmer half of the year. The children's rooms hold the same architectural confidence at a friendlier register, with pieces drawn from Meridiani, Novamobili, and Vitra.
