Pierre Charpin

Born 1962 | France

Pierre Charpin was born in Saint-Mandé, France, in 1962. He graduated in visual arts in 1984 and began dedicating his practice to furniture and object design in 1990 while continuing his work as an artist. Rather than separating these disciplines, Charpin approaches design as a space for observation and experimentation, using drawing to explore form, composition, color, and the relationships objects establish within a room.

His work spans industrial production, limited editions, exhibitions, and scenography. Charpin has collaborated with Alessi, HAY, Hermès, Ligne Roset, Saint-Louis, Sèvres, Venini, Zanotta, and other international manufacturers, while Galerie kreo has produced his limited-edition work since 2005. His projects have been presented in major solo exhibitions, and in 2017 he was named Maison & Objet's Creator of the Year. Across these contexts, his work remains distinguished by visual restraint, carefully balanced proportions, and a belief that an object's meaning is shaped by its relationship with people and space.
