Philippe Bestenheider

Born 1971 | Switzerland

Philippe Bestenheider is a Swiss designer born in 1971 in Sion, Switzerland. He studied architecture at ETH Zurich, graduating in 1998, and later earned a Master's degree in Industrial Design from Domus Academy in Milan in 2000. Before establishing his own practice, he worked with studios in Switzerland and the United States, building a foundation that combined architectural discipline with a broader international perspective on design.

From 2001 to 2006, Bestenheider was Senior Designer in Patricia Urquiola's studio in Milan, contributing to projects for brands including Moroso, Molteni, Agape, Alessi, Axor, Pallucco, Fratelli Boffi, Frag, and Nilufar Gallery. In 2007, he opened his own studio and has since worked between Switzerland and Milan, while also teaching at institutions including Domus Academy, the Royal College of Art in London, and FHNW in Basel. His work is often described as a synthesis of Italian creativity and Swiss rigor, resulting in furniture and objects that balance logical construction with a cultivated sensitivity to color, shape, and atmosphere.
