Massimo Mariani is an Italian architect and designer whose work is distinguished by formal precision, material intelligence, and a quietly sophisticated sense of balance. Public design references state that he was born in Florence, studied at the Faculty of Architecture in Genoa, and moved to London in 1998 to work freelance on architectural and urban planning projects in the United Kingdom. In 2004, he opened his own studio in London, focusing on architecture and industrial design research.
Over the years, Mariani has developed furniture and lighting for brands including Living Divani, Acerbis, and Catellani & Smith. His work is especially admired for its disciplined geometry, mixed-material compositions, and architectural calm. Acerbis describes his approach as materially focused, while Living Divani notes that his work has been presented in Milan, Rome, New York, Shanghai, Berlin, Paris, and London. In 2011, he received an Honorable Mention at the XXII ADI Compasso d'Oro for the modular system Vita.
