On June 10, Luminaire welcomed internationally renowned architect and designer Piero Lissoni to Chicago.

Following a captivating lecture at the Museum of Contemporary Art, over 500 guests enjoyed the opening of \”1:1 Piero Lissoni\” at the Luminaire Chicago Showroom. The month-long exhibition features a curated selection of the architect’s work arranged on white tables with trestle bases designed to resemble an atelier workshop. The exhibition features architectural models, design prototypes and graphic design projects sourced from the nearly 30 year career of the influential designer.

The dynamic exhibit, situated on the third floor of Luminaire’s showroom, was the hot spot of the evening. Visitors gazed in amazement upon the comprehensive collection of objects all designed by Piero Lissoni. From the impressive Frog chair for Living Divani and the impeccable Labyrinth table from Glas Italia, to a rich selection of graphic design projects the exhibit examined the cohesive themes of Lissoni’s body of work.

Guests enjoyed prosecco from Voveti and hor d’oeuvres while experiencing a completely refreshed showroom that poetically showcased new products such as the US debut of “Softer Than Steel,” Nendo’s latest collection for Desalto.

The day began with a private luncheon in honor of Piero Lissoni. In attendance were editors and reporters from major design magazines as well as the owners of Glas Italia, Living Divani and Porro. Following the luncheon, Lissoni personally escorted the attendees through the exhibit, stopping to share stories about each object.

Among the attendees to the evening reception were acclaimed designer Jeffrey Burnett, Marcus Benz CEO and Partner at Walter Knoll and Jeffrey Osborne the previous creative director of Knoll. Lissoni also signed his latest monograph to his architectural and design work which was Published by Hatje Cantz

It gave us great pleasure to offer our public the extraordinary experience of this event with Piero Lissoni. Whether a long-time design enthusiast or only experiencing the transformative power of great design for the first time, everyone is encouraged to continue to learn more about the great Piero Lissoni and take in this mesmerizing exhibition on view through July 10th.
