After 38 years of inspiring audiences with events and educational programs, which featured numerous globally celebrated designers, on November 1st Luminaire unveiled a new way of storytelling – DESIGNLIVES. This conversational forum explored the designers who innovate and the creative directors who collaborated with them to propel the design industry forward.
For the highly anticipated DESIGNLIVES debut, Benjamin A. Pardo, the current EVP and Design Director of Knoll, and special guest Jeffrey Osborne, Creative Director of Knoll from 1976 – 1986, shared an in-depth history of the award-winning company in a relaxed, design-driven atmosphere at Luminaire Lab in Miami’s Design District. Pardo and Osborne fascinated guests with their accounts of working closely with designers in their studios and homes while sharing personal, and exhilarating, behind-the-scenes stories of moving designs forward into production.
With an enduring commitment to design education, Luminaire has always challenged convention with thought-provoking dialogue aimed at inclusive audiences from serious enthusiasts to those only recently introduced to design. DESIGNLIVES continues this effort, looking back to explore the evolution of modern design and reaffirming that indeed good design always begins with good collaboration.
