The intersection of Superior and Franklin streets lies in the center of Chicago’s River North district, which boasts the largest concentration of art galleries, design showrooms, restaurants and entertainment venues in the United States outside of Manhattan. It is also the home to a many windowed building on the corner, a brick structure that faces both streets.

This airy, well-lit space provides the perfect canvas on which to showcase breath-taking modern and contemporary design. By moving to this location, Luminaire expands its journey to include a larger roster of manufactures, a broader variety of design exhibitions and a greater platform where the stories can be told that connect people to their surroundings.

Design is more than a product, it is an experience: this mantra is quite familiar to famed architect and designer Antonio Citterio, whose works include an industrial plant for Vitra and the heralded Domus Program of sleek office systems.

To commemorate the opening of Luminaire’s new location on Superior Street, Citterio enlightened minds with a discussion of his architecture and design projects. Visitors wandered the newly christened space, discovering how good design can enhance their daily lives.
