On October 24, Luminaire Lab hosted the opening reception and discussion for their latest exhibition titled Exploring Forms with Brazilian designer Jader Almeida who guided guests through an exploration of his creative process, inspirations, and influences for his collection with Sollos.
The exhibition, displayed in the windows of the showroom along NE 2nd Avenue in Miami’s Design District, consists of a curated selection of furniture designed by Almeida including lounge chairs, dining chairs, side tables, and complements. The variety of pieces, when viewed as a whole, created a compelling story that communicates the designer’s aesthetic vision.
Inaugurating the evening, Luminaire co-founder Nasir Kassamali told the story of his first encounter with Almeida, expressing his deep appreciation for his work with a warm welcome to the stage for a dialogue that provided an insightful look into the young designer’s background, influences, inspiration, and distinct design language. During his discussion, Almeida shared moments from his upbringing, ambitions, influences and inspirations and more.
Included in the display are the Mad Lounge, Jardim Tables, Celine armchair, Mark Stools, and Teca Bar Cart among others. The exhibition was paired with a deconstructed version of his Bell Armchair within a black frame complementing the display’s monochromatic aesthetic.
Throughout the evening guests enjoyed Brazilian inspired hors d’oeuvres and champagne while discussing how the exhibition really portrayed Almeida’s design sensibility, sensuous shapes and attention to craftsmanship. Luminaire was happy to celebrate the opening and share a beautiful evening with dear friends.
Exploring Forms is on show until November 18, 2019, and is available for view Monday – Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm at Luminaire’s Lab location.
