Perhaps the most internationally acclaimed Swedish architecture and design collective, Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune met while studying interior architecture, and in 1995, they established their studio. At first focusing on architectural projects with instinctive simplicity and delicate attention to geometric harmony, such as Sfera Building culture house in Kyoto and Nobis Hotel Stockholm, Claesson Koivisto Rune eventually adapted a multi-disciplinary approach, embracing both architecture and design as two parts of an inseparable whole.

Rather than follow a strict set of rules, Claesson Koivisto Rune promise to ‘develop, improve, and never repeat,’ keeping their ideas fresh and their work consistently relevant to the social and environmental context in which it’s designed. In a move geared to bring the design of indoor air cleaners into the modern era, Blueair partnered with Sweden’s globally acclaimed architecture and design studio, Claesson Koivisto Rune, to create a contemporary glass and steel design for the Blueair Sense. The result is a warm, tactile and highly efficient air purifier that delivers an out-of-the-box experience, beyond helping to ensure the air people breathe indoors is as pure as nature intended.

In 2004 Claesson Koivisto Rune became first Swedish architects ever to be exhibited in the international section of the Venice Architecture Biennale. Their work has earned numerous awards including Furniture of the Year 2012 and Designer of the Year 2011 from Elle Decor Sweden, German Design Award (Gold) 2011 by the Federal Republic of Germany and Wallpaper Magazine’s Best Domestic Design 2010. At Luminaire, a collection of their clean, revolutionary designs can be found both in our showrooms and online at the Luminaire Store.

We invite you to join us in Chicago on Friday March 9, 2012 for a lecture and reception with Claesson Koivisto Rune as we host the launch of the their newest product, the radically different Blueair Sense indoor air purifier, and share their extensive knowledge of architecture and product design.
