At Luminaire, we have  connected others with good design viscerally, emotionally, and intellectually for over 38 years. In that time we have introduced our clients and the public to some of the most influential designs from the most renown designers living in the world today, including Oki Sato, Patricia Urquiola, Naoto Fukasawa, Piero Lissoni, Jasper Morrison, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Antonio Citterio, Massimo Vignelli and many others.

We now introduce to you a new way of storytelling – DESIGNLIVES.

DESIGNLIVES inspires conversation which educates, explores, and appreciates not only the designers who innovate but also the creative directors who collaborate with them to propel the design industry forward.  By looking back we explore the evolution of modern design, discovering how past designers applied the methods of their time and inspired future endeavors.

For the highly anticipated DESIGNLIVES debut, Benjamin A. Pardo, the current EVP and Design Director of Knoll, and special guest Jeffrey Osborne, Creative Director of Knoll from 1976 - 1986, shared an in-depth history of the award-winning company in a relaxed, design-driven atmosphere at Luminaire Lab in Miami’s Design District. Pardo and Osborne fascinated guests with their accounts of working closely with designers in their studios and homes while sharing personal, and exhilarating, behind-the-scenes stories of moving designs forward into production.

Good design always starts with good collaboration. For over 70 years, Knoll has lived by this philosophy, producing some of the most iconic pieces in the world. Indeed Florence Knoll and her gift for collaboration encouraged production of brilliant, time-tested design from some of the most celebrated modernist luminaries, including Eero Saarinen, Marcel Breuer, Isamu Noguchi, and Mies van der Rohe.

Knoll's commitment to conveying good design to a global audience has resulted in spaces that transform their inhabitants; creating enduring workplace and residential furnishings. It is no wonder that Knoll has been recognized as a design leader across the globe, exhibiting products in major art museums including over 40 pieces at the MOMA New York permanent collection. Benjamin A. Pardo joined Knoll in 2005 after 17 years as President of Unifor and continues Knoll's inspired legacy of influencing product and showroom design worldwide.
